The Procurement Process
Portway Building Materials operates as your strategic sourcing partner. We navigate a vast network of national manufacturers to ensure your site is never without materials.
01. Sourcing & Comparison
When you send us a requirement, our specialists don't just check one warehouse. We query our entire UK network to find the best availability and the most competitive pricing for your specific location.
02. Dedicated Management
Every client is assigned a human Account Manager. No automated tickets—just direct access via WhatsApp or Phone to someone who understands your project timelines and technical specs.
03. Compliance & Credit
We simplify trade credit. We offer flexible terms and manage all manufacturer-backed documentation, ensuring you have the data sheets and compliance certificates required for modern builds.
Specialized Logistics
Standard delivery is just the beginning. We manage a fleet of specialized vehicles designed to overcome the most difficult site restrictions.
Equipped with a crane for lifting heavy loads (bricks, blocks, timber) over walls or onto site platforms.
Truck-mounted forklifts capable of navigating uneven ground and dropping materials exactly where needed.
Standard Terms & Access
Our standard delivery window is 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Please ensure there is a clear "kerbside" area for offloading. If your site has restricted access (e.g., narrow lanes or low bridges), you must notify us at the time of ordering to avoid failed delivery charges.
To maintain our competitive wholesale pricing, we require a minimum order value of £750 (inc. VAT) for non-trade customers. Trade Account holders enjoy lower thresholds and priority dispatch.
Returns & Refunds
We strive for perfection, but we understand that project needs can change. Our returns policy is designed to be fair and transparent.
Change of Mind Returns
You have 14 days from the date of delivery to notify us of a return. A **25% restocking fee** applies to all non-defective returns to cover manufacturer handling and administrative costs. Collection fees start from £22 per pallet.
Faulty or Damaged Goods
Please inspect all Goods upon arrival. Any damage must be reported in writing within **14 days**. We will arrange a prioritized exchange or a full refund including any delivery charges paid.
We cannot accept returns for perishable "powder-based" products such as Cement, Mortar, or Plasterboard as these degrade rapidly and cannot be safely re-sold.
Common Questions
Do you deliver to residential addresses?
Yes, we deliver to both commercial sites and residential properties. However, please ensure the road can accommodate a large HGV vehicle.
Can I open a trade account online?
Absolutely. You can apply for a Trade Credit Account via our digital portal. Approval typically takes 24-48 hours and provides access to trade-only pricing and credit terms.
What happens if I'm not on-site for delivery?
If no one is available to sign for the delivery, the driver may attempt a kerbside drop if deemed safe, or the Goods will be returned to the depot. A re-delivery charge will apply in the latter case.
